Our 90-minute sessions on Zoom start sometimes with a small teaching point. Then we listen to a message in English, generally a prerecorded talk. All participants take notes as we listen. Then a participant gives an interpretation, either in English or another language. Another provides feedback. Discussion follows on the strong and weak points of the interpretation and, importantly, of the feedback. Then we listen again and divide up into breakout rooms and again interpret (into English or another language, usually Chinese, Spanish, French, or Russian) and critique. We reshuffle the breakout rooms two or three times; most participants get a chance to interpret and receive feedback at least once, sometimes more.
